Name:
Ælfthryth
Age:
16
Appearance:
Height:
5'3"
Weight:
100 lbs
Clothing:
Ælfthryth doesn't wear rich clothing, as all ladies would love to. She wears always her silver cloak that she'd been wearing when she took off from home and her rich beige and laced dress underneath, and her soft leather boots now worn from travel.
Weapons:
Her left boot conceals a small and delicate dagger that she had lifted from her father, as well as an elegant longbow and a quiver of arrows, as archery was the only means of defense that her father had deemed safe enough for her to learn as a woman.
Personality:
Ælfthryth is a gentle lass and very polite. She - having been raised by a rich family - was proper, graceful and a loving character. Through one year of having departed from her family and shelter, she had learned quite a bit of the outside world, good and bad. She learned things that ladies never did, being cooped up inside their homes and deprived from all means of travelling. She hardly angers at anything, is cunning with words and playing others' minds towards her will.
History:
One night during dinner, in the cozy warmth of the home of Ælfthryth's family, her father announced in delight that he had arranged a marriage between Ælfthryth and a well-respected man... Belenus, the 19-year old son of his long-time friend. Instead of flaring up in anger and refusing to believe it, she had agreed obediently to the arrangement and said not a word in protest. The following night, her father had invited the man and his father to dinner, so that Ælfthryth could meet him prior to the marriage. Belenus was a very handsome man, polite, caring and he spoke and acted gently to her, as though they were already married. Ælfthryth fell in love with him at once, as he had already fallen in love with her, and she knew her father had made a thoughtful decision.
The day before their marriage would take place, Ælfthryth realised with a pang that after her marriage, she would have no time to read, or play, or wander around on her own. She would have to spend her time pleasing her husband, holding her part of their marriage and later raising children. She was only 15 years old, and she didn't think that it was time for her to abandon everything to marriage. Because she loved Belenus so, and she knew it was mutual, she wrote a long and painful letter, sealed it and addressed it to him only. That night, she gathered her gold and her important belongings into a small cloth bag, stealthily crept out of the quiet manor and onto her long time companion, a horse, Thinelroch. She fled to the next town and sook refugee in a small inn, to wait for morning. With Thinelroch, she traveled from place to place for a year, always wondering with a heavy what had became of Belenus, and always wondering if she ought to have never left home.
Religion:
Ælfthryth had been very close to the village outcast, Epona, who was a lone Druid priest. The rest of her family were all a part of the True Faith, and the fooled them into believing that she was, also. She secretly practised Druidism with Epona, and became very faithful to it and the Goddess. She had also included in the letter to Belenus that she was a Druid.
